How well does it match the curriculum?

Well: It covers the curriculum as well as we expected

There is a variety of activities which are well differentiated and have good skills progression throughout each unit of work

How well does it support adaptation for different groups of pupils?

Well: A large majority of resources are suitably differentiated for pupils

Much simpler steps for low ability children or more of the simplest tasked e.g. fish in 2 code (chimp) so that they really have the basics nailed before moving on

How well does it engage and motivate pupils?

Well: Pupils generally enjoy using it and tend to welcome doing so

Children love the gamification of learning and Purple Mash really plays to that strength particularly with the different programming sections the children can work on

How well supported is it by any included formative assessments?

Reasonably: There is some formative assessment included, but its usefulness is a bit limited

It can be tricky to print out all of the code and time consuming to go into each child’s work to look at what they have done. If key parts could be exported that would be useful

How well does it support planning?

Well: It’s fairly self-contained and can be used with minimal preparation

There are always activities that match the learning intentions of my lessons and usually clear instruction videos to help with the input

How well does it support home use / independent learning?

Well: Pupils could be expected to use this at home or independently, with a minimum amount of support or additional resources

This resource was used a lot during the pandemic but is continuing to be use d as we can allow the children to work on it at home E to continue with their projects

How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?

Reasonably: It represents about the same value for money as similar resources I’ve seen

I am not responsive for the budget so I am not totally sur who’s much it cost to use and therefore whether it is value for money!

Would you recommend it to a colleague in a similar school to yours? 9/11
