How well does it match the curriculum?

Brilliantly: There is more content (eg support / extension activities) than we expected

Strengths:The Computing resources provide a comprehensive set of resources for teaching and learning. Teachers who are not confident to teach Computing are provided with all the resources that are needed with detailed lesson plans to support. Weaknesses: A small amount of the activities suggested are not engaging for the pupils.

How well does it support adaptation for different groups of pupils?

Well: A large majority of resources are suitably differentiated for pupils

The lesson plans do not always suggest support/challenge activities. More guidance on this would be helpful.

How well does it engage and motivate pupils?

Brilliantly: Pupils love using and are excited when they know they are going to do so

Pupils enjoy using the software as they can easily save, submit and edit work. They enjoy being set activities by the teacher.

How well supported is it by any included formative assessments?

Reasonably: There is some formative assessment included, but its usefulness is a bit limited

The unit plans offer guidance to what teachers should be looking for during each unit of work. This includes the skills that pupils should be showing.

How well does it support planning?

Brilliantly: It has everything you could need and is straightforward to use with classes

Strengths: The plans are well presented and very thorough. Each unit of work contains an overview and individual lesson plans with associated PowerPoints to support teaching and learning.

How well does it support home use / independent learning?

Well: Pupils could be expected to use this at home or independently, with a minimum amount of support or additional resources

Pupils love using Purple Mash at home. It is a child-friendly, engaging interface and contains relevant games to support home learning.

How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?

Brilliantly: It’s possibly the best value for money of any similar resources I’ve seen

More engaging games to suit different areas of the curriculum would be good. The pupils particularly enjoy the multi-player games.

Would you recommend it to a colleague in a similar school to yours? 10/11
