Purple Mash is a package that generates considerable enthusiasm amongst younger pupils and is valued by staff.

How well does it match the curriculum?

Well: It covers the curriculum as well as we expected

Lots of opportunity for coding with younger pupils - we use some of the resources for cross-curricular coverage but this can be time consuming to do.

How well does it support adaptation for different groups of pupils?

Brilliantly: There is a wide enough range of resources to provide a good range of options for all pupils

Top end stretch activities could be improved, as we have a significant number of pupils above 120 age standardised and can find resources limiting.

How well does it engage and motivate pupils?

Well: Pupils generally enjoy using it and tend to welcome doing so

The interactivity, particularly at KS1 and lower KS2. Then it tails off a little as you move towards Years 5 and 6.

How well supported is it by any included formative assessments?

Well: We could (or do) use it for monitoring individual pupil progress

Quizzes are helpful to offer quick feedback. We tend to use other platforms for more formalised assessments.

How well does it support planning?

Brilliantly: It has everything you could need and is straightforward to use with classes

Good coverage and well employed by our Class Teachers under the guidance of our Subject Lead, who is a big advocate of the application.

How well does it support home use / independent learning?

Brilliantly: We’d have very few reservations about using this extensively to support home learning

Equally valued in the classroom and at home, with the opportunity to access a range of resources to broaden understanding.

How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?

Well: It’s worth the money and effort to introduce – more so than many similar resources I’ve seen

Formalised assessments in order to complete the feedback cycle. Currently, the system lacks rigour but is very pupil focused.

Would you recommend it to a colleague in a similar school to yours? 9/11
