LBQ is a great piece of software that the children really like to use. They children are challenged and supported and due to the tracking system, children that are struggling can be easily identified.

How well does it match the curriculum?

Brilliantly: There is more content (eg support / extension activities) than we expected

Great variety of questions at various levels. Support when the children are incorrect. Anonymous tracking so pupils can be incorrect without others knowing apart from the teacher.

How well does it support adaptation for different groups of pupils?

Well: A large majority of resources are suitably differentiated for pupils

I believe split question sets would really help when planning, eg High Ability and Low Ability question sets.

How well does it engage and motivate pupils?

Brilliantly: Pupils love using and are excited when they know they are going to do so

I like that it is not too graphical and 'shiny'. The children are focused. I like that touchscreen users are catered for with the whiteboard and teach mode is a great addition. I would like to see more science, history and geography question sets.

How well supported is it by any included formative assessments?

Well: We could (or do) use it for monitoring individual pupil progress

The pupils are tracked for each task that is set. This can highlight specific areas of learning that the general class are struggling with. At this point I often stop the class to discuss the particular issue.

How well does it support planning?

Brilliantly: It has everything you could need and is straightforward to use with classes

There are many question sets so initially it may be difficult for new users to navigate and find what they want. I would like the year group tab to stay on my specific year group rather than having to be selected each time I create a task.

How well does it support home use / independent learning?

Well: Pupils could be expected to use this at home or independently, with a minimum amount of support or additional resources

I have not yet used it for home learning as the task times were limited. I believe you can now set task for certain days but I have yet to use that functionality.

How would you rate it for value for money compared to similar resources?

Well: It’s worth the money and effort to introduce – more so than many similar resources I’ve seen

The price is increasing but the amount of content does not seem to be. We would possible buy for whole school but as we have low numbers of children (50) this would become very expensive in my opinion.

Would you recommend it to a colleague in a similar school to yours? 10/11
