Review: This is the web catalogue for the Perry-Castaneda map collection at the University of Texas. This particular page lists maps which are no longer available and which can only be found online here. Most of theses are US maps. The navigation menu allows you to go elsewhere in the library where you can view maps for particular regions or themes. The site also has an incredibly comprehensive list of links to online maps elsewhere on the internet. Unfortunately there is little description so most will be a case of click and see.
Review: This site is part of the about.com stable, and comes under its geography banner. This part of the site has a short page of links to articles related to information on the countries of the world, each with a brief description of the article. As with all about pages there is a side bar with further links to related sites and topics. On this site they include world atlases, blank maps, a free geography email course and a series of geographical articles. In common with all about sites there is a proliferation of sponsored links and adverts, and the articles all tend to have a naive earnestness.

On this site they include world atlases, blank maps, a free geography email course and a series of geographical articles. Review: This section of Snaith Primary School´s website is about water and rivers and could be a starting point for a Rivers topic. You can start by brainstorming all you know about water and filling in the online worksheet. The main section of the site is on rivers where you can find out about rivers around the world including the Nile, Amazon and The Ganges and information about how rivers are formed. There are also a set of different riverscapes which you can write about and try and capture the mood of the river with the words you use.
Review: This site is part of the about.com stable, and comes under its geography banner. This part of the site has links to articles related to US zip codes, each with a brief description of the article. While this is of little relevance to UK users there is a side bar with further links to related sites and topics. On this site they include world atlases, blank maps, a free geography email course and a series of geographical articles. In common with all about sites there is a proliferation of sponsored links and adverts, and the articles all tend to have a naive earnestness.
Review: This is a site that is devoted to all things nerdy, has nerd of the month, nerd newsletter, a lot of science links. There is some educational value to the site however - it has a very good list of internet resources for environmental studies. These can be accessed through the search facility built in to the site. Pupils may also enjoy the other sections of the site. Nerd life deals with the social life (or lack of it) of nerds, and nerd store offers some really geeky goods. There will be a kid in your class who adores this site.

Review: This is the homepage of the Grand Canyon Association, whose remit is to support educational and visitor services at the Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. This is a very comprehensive site with much of the focus on commercial activities - book sales, membership information etc. Casual visitors will gravitate to the virtual tour, which allows locations to be selected from a map and click to open images of the chosen spot. Potential visitors can use the site to plan their itinerary, or to arrange their visit to coincide with a listed event. Finally, there is an interactive 360 degree online version of the Canyon's Kolb Gallery which allows you to wander around and select the painting you wish to view.

Review: This site is part of the about.com stable, and comes under its geography banner. This part of the site has two pages of links to articles related (sometimes only tenuously) to cultural or human topics, each with a brief description of the article. As with all about pages there is a side bar with further links to related sites and topics. On this site they include world atlases, blank maps, a free geography email course and a series of geographical articles. Review: This site is part of the about.com stable, and comes under its geography banner. This part of the site has two pages of links to geographical clip art, each with a brief description of the images available. There is a tendency for them to be maps and flags of the US. As with all about pages there is a side bar with further links to related sites and topics. On this site they include world atlases, blank maps, a free geography email course and a series of geographical articles. In common with all about sites there is a proliferation of sponsored links and adverts, and the articles all tend to have a naive earnestness.
Review: This site is part of the about.com stable, and comes under its geography banner. This part of the site has a short page of links to articles related to information on the countries of the world (although the US is over represented), each with a brief description of the article. As with all about pages there is a side bar with further links to related sites and topics. On this site they include world atlases, blank maps, a free geography email course and a series of geographical articles. In common with all about sites there is a proliferation of sponsored links and adverts, and the articles all tend to have a naive earnestness.
Review: This This site gives you the highest and lowest locations for most countries around the world. Getting the information is a bit of a chore. You need to choose the continent your country is in, and then click for a highest or lowest table to appear and look for the country. Then you have to do it again to find out the opposite. The information is given in feet and metres, and there is a link top the alta vista search engine to find you images of the location. The site also has some fairly standard maps, and claims to have a weather link, which leads instead to a description of the countries location. Not a great site.
Review: This site is part of the about.com stable, and comes under its geography banner. This useful site has a page of links to articles related to country facts and information, each with a brief description of the article. Unfortunately many of the articles are specifically about the US. As with all about pages there is a side bar with further links to related sites and topics. On this site they include world atlases, blank maps, a free geography email course and a series of geographical articles. In common with all about sites there is a proliferation of sponsored links and adverts, and the articles all tend to have a naive earnestness. However this does provide a good source of information.
Review: This is the website of an organisation which existed to raise awareness of international development issues. Unfortunately the organisation closed down in March 2005, and the website remains as a relic. The site retains a couple of downloadable information sheets on rainforsts and the tea industry. This is not enough to justify a visit to a site which has sadly gone bust.
