On this site they include world atlases, blank maps, a free geography email course and a series of geographical articles. In common with all about sites there is a proliferation of sponsored links and adverts, and the articles all tend to have a naive earnestness, although this section is less US focussed than is normal.

Review: This is part of the Mr Dowling Browse the World series, which provides a vast range of resources for students. The Time and Space section includes such topics as the stars, longitude and latitude, seasons, time and map projections. All the information is presented in accessible language and is very well illustrated with colour photographs and diagrams. The information is an introduction to a topic only, and is therefore best used to introduce a topic and not for in depth study. Students may prefer to make use of the downloadable study guide, homework assignments and quiz, which are available in Acrobat or Word format. Teachers may appreciate the ability to download and alter using MS Word.

Review: This great resource contains all the archived material from the kid's section of the National Geographic web site. The site has general interest facts, fun and games materials together with a back catelogue of articles from June 1966 to date. Older articles (up to August 2001) are listed by date of publication and title, making them difficult to browse. The newer articles are searchable by category. There is also a number of links to related features, as well as links to the full kids section and to World magazine (National Geographic kids magazine). This provides a good information source with well presented materials suitable for school use.

Review: Sometimes you come across a site that really needs no description - this is one. As the title suggests this is an online world atlas. The site has an atlas on the opening page. Clicking on a continent brings up a more detailed continental map, together with some basic geographical information and a list of other maps available for that area. Outline maps are available to download or print. The site also lets users ask geographical questions - this has not been tested as to quality and response time. The maps are of varying scales but they are all fairly basic, making them more suited for primary schools. The site has various other geographical information such as latitute/longitude and tsunamis.

Review: This is the home page of Anglian Water. Anglian Water is a major provider of water and environmental services to some nine million customers world-wide. The site has lots of information about the company, as well as education and environment sections. The education site has around twenty bright and colourful fact sheets and links to other useful sites. The environment site has sections on biodiversity, water resources and water quality, amongst others. There is some useful material on this site, especially at a lower level.

Review: The subtitle on this site is Geographic Learning for Sustainable Development, and it is a partnership between the United nations and others. The aim of the project is to to encourage youth to use geographic tools and concepts to address local issues of sustainability, and through this learn more about environmental issues. Towards this end schools have been particpating and the site has details of the 22 finalists and their projects. There are three categories of finalist - primary/middle school, secondary school and college/university, and all are well represented. The projects are generally fairly technical and are best suited to older students. an authoritative primary reference volume on global environmental and natural resource conditions and trends for the United Nations, World Bank, and related international organizations
