Review: A resource available on the excellent Primary Resources website. This set of spelling worksheets asks the children to underline the words that are spelt incorrectly and write the correct spelling at the end of the line with the use of a dictionary if necessary. The worksheet is in PDF format and needs to be printed for use in the classroom. It could be used in the classroom or it would be useful as a homework exercise to consolidate work carried out in the classroom.

Review: Word level activity worksheet. part of the primary resources webpages. This site is excellent as it has lots of downloads and new worksheets. This work sheet is all about spelling IC words, for example "fantastic, magic, electric, plastic" etc. The activity sheet is in Adobe Acrobat format and you would need to have a copy of this on your computer to view and print the esource. It does have some good fun pictures on it and acts as a word fill exercise. Excellent for getting your students to think independantly about where IC words go and how to use them. Valuable resource.

look, cover * * * * *

look, cover

Mainly suitable for:
Well suited for use in UK schools KS1, KS2
Review: This spelling game from Ambleside school uses the technique of Look, cover, write and check. It is an online game with its own bank of words but can be adapted to suit the needs of any teacher and for any spelling level. A teacher can generate words such as containing ‘ea’ by clicking a button or input own words to match what the class are learning at the time. Once a teacher has done this hitting the ‘go’ button displays the first word which is then covered when the children have had a look. They then type in the word or if a teacher was using an interactive whiteboard children could write it in then convert it to type if needed. The check button is then hit so children can see if they have spelt the word correctly. This would be a good introduction to the spellings for the whole class for a week or could be used by small groups or individual children in a differentiated activity.

Review: A wonderful site, type in a word and find rhymes and synonyms. Plus searches of certain "great works´´ and an on-line quiz area. Good fun, but beware, the rhyming area is mildly addictive. Can be used with children working in pairs or individually on stand a lone computers. A good site to be used when writing poetry to help stimulate ideas or to help increase vocabulary or help with spelling.
