Review: A website dedicated to step-by-step poetry workshops on-line, how to write stories and how to write book reviews. This is a very child friendly site, which will look good on an interactive whiteboard. The children can hear a poet reading his own work and how to write a similar poem. The site is well worth a visit and would be a good resource to use as a whole class lesson. Karla Kuskin demonstrates how to use descriptive words to create powerful poems. There are also teacher guides associated with the lessons.

Review: A wonderful site, type in a word and find rhymes and synonyms. Plus searches of certain "great works´´ and an on-line quiz area. Good fun, but beware, the rhyming area is mildly addictive. Can be used with children working in pairs or individually on stand a lone computers. A good site to be used when writing poetry to help stimulate ideas or to help increase vocabulary or help with spelling.

Review: This is an excellent time saving resource for all key Stage 2 English teachers it provides 3 weeks of poetry lessons plans plus resources! The plans are thorough and well thought out. Each module of work has an overview which is followed by weekly plans. The overview consists of a familiarisation section which should take about half of the time. It is during this time that shared reading of texts relating to the objectives takes place. This then leads into detailed plans of shared writing and guided and independent writing.
