Review: Word level activity worksheet. part of the primary resources webpages. This site is excellent as it has lots of downloads and new worksheets. This work sheet is all about spelling IC words, for example "fantastic, magic, electric, plastic" etc. The activity sheet is in Adobe Acrobat format and you would need to have a copy of this on your computer to view and print the esource. It does have some good fun pictures on it and acts as a word fill exercise. Excellent for getting your students to think independantly about where IC words go and how to use them. Valuable resource.
Review: This site provides primary resources for English, including word level activity worksheets. It is part of a comprehensive resource web site for primary school teachers and covers all subjects taught in schools. The English section is divided into word level, text level and miscellaneous resources. Each subsection includes useful worksheets and activity ideas. As the worksheets are offered by different contributors, there is no one consistent approach and most of these worksheets are very simple. However, if used as assessment or practice materials and incorporated appropriately into lesson plans, they save the teachers valuable development time. The site is well-designed, cheerful-looking, easy to use and offer lots of useful materials and ideas. Hosted by RM and approved by NgfL, it certainly is something teachers like myself would want to refer to over and over again as a resource bank.
Review: Word level activity worksheet that is based around the use of plurals. This activity would best be suited to end a series of lessons. This advice is based on the fact that the sheet is quite complex and would need a fair amount of teacher lead instruction to get the best out of the pupils. The sheet is well designed, but is downloaded and viewed by using adobe acrobat, so make sure that you have it installed. You could also use this sheet as a starter and tell the students that this is really complicated, then at the end of the unit hand it out and watxch as they fill it in with ease!
Review: This is quite a tricky sheet that asks the pupils to choose the word that does not match the others (singular vs. plurals). This page would probably be best taught using an interactive whiteboard as a whole class lesson. Then children can answer using say number fans for if the answer is 1, 2, 3 or 4. If you click on RHL School home, you will find lots more worksheets similar to this in English and Maths topic. It is worth a browse.
Review: This word level activity worksheet is part of the Primary Resources website. The site covers eleven subject areas, including English, Maths and Science. There is a range of resources here including lesson ideas and worksheets. However, as the worksheets are mostly in PDF format, they can't be edited and you will have to search carefully to find ones that exactly match your students. There are word, sentence and text level resources covering the primary years. This site is worth a look if you want a worksheet.
Review: A Site all about two teddy bears - John and El. The site is a selection of stories about there adventures and for pre / KS1 / KS2 childrent the stories would make an excellent starter for the lesson - or a nice way to end the day. The site has excellent potential for the teaching of spellings and for the correct use of grammar. Make the most of the site by creating your own worksheets or quizes to support the pages. make sure however that they are available and perhaps make a request to the author for you to store them offline. An excellent site.
Review: Part of the RHL School website, this is a a straightforward, clearly displayed single worksheet that asks the pupils to find 2 mistakes in each sentence and also to write the correct version of the sentence (E.g. homophones, and apostrophes missing). Useful for class work, fast finishers or perhaps assessment.
Review: The fun brain website is packed with lots of different kinds of games. The Spellaroo asks children to identify the incorrect spelling in the sentence and keeps a running score of correct / incorrect responses. There are many other games on this website such as maths baseball a flexible game that can reinforce all four operations and grammar gorillas which practises identifying verbs, nouns and parts of speech. There is a teacher section which gives a useful overview of the objectives for each game.
