Service Terms and Conditions

This agreement sets out the terms and conditions on which the supplier (“the supplier”) has commissioned Schoolzone.co.uk Ltd (“Schoolzone”) to produce an Evaluation.

  1. The supplier will complete the online form: Product Details Entry Form (at http://www.schoolzone.co.uk/community/suppliers/productdetails.asp) setting out the title(s) to be evaluated, and preferences for subject area and key stage specialist for evaluation purposes.
  2. For Virtual Tour and Hardware/peripheral Evaluations the supplier will also nominate which fields they wish to have covered by the evaluator.
  3. Submission of the Product Details Entry Form to Schoolzone confirms the evaluation instruction to Schoolzone, subject to these terms and conditions. An email confirmation of these instructions will be sent to the supplier. This process makes the placement of the instructions and any associated fees binding upon the supplier, whether or not the supplier then proceeds to send in product/access details etc to enable the commencement of the evaluation.
  4. For Curriculum Online and Virtual Tour evaluations, the supplier will provide two copies of titles (with licences suitable to facilitate full class evaluations); one copy to be kept in the Schoolzone office and the other to be kept by the evaluator’s school unless agreed otherwise) or access details for an online service for a period of 12 months, plus any promotional, support or information materials together with any guidance they can offer on their target market so that Schoolzone can endeavour to match the evaluator correctly to the target market.

    Products need to be received by the Schoolzone office within 30 days of submission of the Evaluation Contract/Product Details Entry Form, failure to do this will result in the Publisher being invoiced for the full evaluation with immediate effect.
  5. For hardware/peripheral evaluations the supplier and Schoolzone will liaise to facilitate sending of the product direct by the supplier to the evaluator. Schoolzone will discuss with the publisher the number of products to be evaluated and the number of products which will be kept by the evalautor upon completion of the evaluation. Again the product(s) should be sent within 30 days of submission of the Evaluation Contract/Product Details Entry Form, and failure to do this will result in the supplier being invoiced for the full evaluation with immediate effect.
  6. Schoolzone identifies an appropriate evaluator and offers it to him/her on the basis that it will be used with a class of children or within the appropriate educational context. Products for evaluation will only be offered to evaluators who have completed Schoolzone training and who are fully contracted to Schoolzone .
  7. On completion of the full evaluation after eight weeks from allocation of product, the evaluator enters it directly into the Schoolzone database where it enters a holding bay prior to publication.

  8. Schoolzone will proof reads the evaluation and email the evaluation link to the supplier for their approval over a two week period, leading to total evaluation timeframe of under ten weeks.
  9. For Virtual Tour Evaluations at this stage, the supplier will be sent a scripted version of the text to be recorded alongside the proposed video capture sections of online recording. The supplier then has two weeks to suggest any amendments to the script or proposed demonstration sections to Schoolzone. If Schoolzone does not hear from the supplier within two weeks of the evaluation link being mailed to the supplier’s contact (as named in the supplier’s profile details) then the evaluation will be automatically recorded and published on the Schoolzone and Curriculum Online website and the publication URL sent to the supplier.
  10. For Curriculum Online Evaluations the supplier then has two weeks to suggest any amendments to factual content to Schoolzone or to query the evaluation content. If Schoolzone does not hear from the supplier within two weeks of the evaluation link being mailed to the supplier’s contact (as named in the supplier’s profile details) then the evaluation will be automatically published on the Curriculum Online and the Schoolzone website and the publication URL sent to the supplier.
  11. For Hardware/Peripheral Evaluations the supplier then has two weeks to suggest any amendments to factual content to Schoolzone or to query the evaluation content. If Schoolzone do not hear from the supplier within two weeks of the evaluation link being mailed to the supplier’s contact (as named in the supplier’s profile details) then the evaluation will be automatically published on the Schoolzone website, the publication URL will be sent to the supplier.
  12. Where the supplier raises any queries within the given timescale, publication will be put on hold whilst Schoolzone checks with the evaluator and makes amendments, then the evaluation link is resent to the supplier for final approval. Again if Schoolzone do not hear from the supplier within two weeks of the evaluation link being mailed to the supplier’s contact (as named in the supplier’s profile details) then the evaluation will be automatically published on the Schoolzone web site (and Curriculum Online where appropriate) and the publication URL will be sent to the supplier and the invoice raised.
  13. The evaluator is paid their fee by Schoolzone on completion of the full evaluation.
  14. Schoolzone procedure (unless agreed otherwise in writing between the parties) is to invoice the supplier for an evaluation 60 days after submission of instructions via the Evaluation contract/Product Details Entry Form. Payment is then due within 30 days. For costing see below. Payment falls due in full whether or not the evaluation is published or vetoed for publication by the supplier.
  15. Marketing options may change from time to time and it is the supplier's responsibility to check these at the time of publication.
  16. Schoolzone will send out a link to the completed evaluation in an emailer sent to their registered user community
  17. Schoolzone will promote newly published evaluations via RSS feeds
  18. Schoolzone will promote evaluated products at the large Education Shows by handing out disks. Emails regarding this promotion will be forwarded to the designated evaluation contact no later than 4 weeks prior to the show.
  19. On publication the supplier may use the evaluation URL in a link from their own site and may quote from the text with the source cited and inclusion of the Schoolzone stamp logo as provided by Schoolzone.
  20. For the first 24 months hosting will be free for evaluations and Schoolzone will send 6 monthly reminders to the suppliers of evaluations published. Evaluation listings older than 24 months will be charged at a rate of £40 per annum per product. Hosting discounts are available for clients with more than 5 products listed.
