  Britannica Online School Edition
This review considers the practical uses of Britannica Online School Edition within our school. It is obviously a standalone resource which we intend to use with all age groups, from 11 to 18 years old. We expect it to be used across the full curriculum and would emphasis its importance through practical sessions within ´The Use of Internet Resources´ staff training - the most recent of which we covered on Wednesday 15th February 2012 to raise the profile of the Britannica Onlin... More ...

  Espresso
Espresso is an online subscription resource which once purchased can be installed on all computers in the school. It is aimed at children from Nursery to Year 6. It covers all National Curriculum subjects and links well with QCA as well as the creative curriculum.  It includes many resource types such as big books, animated stories, videos, activities, photos, competitions, news and assemblies. It is extremely easy for children to navigate as the design is bright and colourful. This re... More ...

  Purple Mash from 2Simple Software
Purple Mash is a fantastic addition to the 2Simple family. It is a web based programme suitable as a supplementary resource to support Literacy, Maths, ICT and thematic learning, offering a suite of creative tools. My love of the original 2Simple software has been re-ignited by this resource. We purchased the resource 6 months ago and it is being used across the school from Nursery up to Year 6. The main reasons we decided on ‘Purple Mash’ was the reputation of 2Simple and the fact ... More ...

  Kerboodle - in A-level Biology
I have used the KS5 resource for the past two years and it has been an invaluable resource during the transition to the new specification of AQA A level Biology. Due to the nature of the resource, it is suitable for all ability levels but particularly so for the low to mid –ability groups. There are small numbers of resources for gifted and talented students but these are an area for development within the resource. The best things about this resource are the ability to increase the exten... More ...

  Global Grid for Learning
Shareen Sharif, a primary school teacher in Leeds, recently tried the new Global Grid for Learning digital content service, GGfL On Demand, with her Y6 class as a way of generating stimuli for lessons.  GGfL On Demand provides schools with a digital library of learning resources such as images, videos, interactive activities and other multimedia types. The library allows you to search and download over one million resources from a range of educational content providers. I used GGf... More ...

  Inspiration 9 Secondary
Inspiration 9.0 IE is a set of tools for the organising of ideas and concepts into a form that allows you to think and learn visually. The tools used can be in one of 4 environments of views: diagrams, mind maps, outlines and presentations. You can start in either diagram, mind map or outline view and, because they are integrated with each other, you can toggle between them to suit what you or a student is doing at the time. Once you have finished creating your concept or mind map in what ev... More ...

  Kidspiration 3
Kidspiration 3 is a tool that allows teachers to construct interactive workspaces for children. It is designed primarily to enhance thinking, literacy, and mathematical skills, although it is flexible enough to be used across a range of contexts. It has tools that allow for visual representation of concepts to enhance comprehension and communication with pictures, words and numbers. Children can make sense of their learning as they can see and describe the processes involved in their thinking. T... More ...

Classroom Response System (CRS) - Evaluation 2
Ever watched Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Ever thought that those dinky little handsets that the audience use for the ‘ask the audience’ lifeline could be a Godsend in the classroom? Well this product is a better version of that concept… Imagine the WWTBAM handset but with more input options and wireless technology. Imagine this being linked to your classroom PC or laptop by nothing more than a USB cable. To make it even better throw into the mix a piece of software (Accelt... More ...
