GCSEPod

overview

GCSEPod is a series of expertly created enhanced podcasts, created by Soundbitelearning UK Ltd, to help students with GCSE revision for mocks, exams and coursework. A nominated finalist for the Digital Awards 2008, GCSEPod is aimed primarily at 14-16 year olds and their parents; incorporating a wealth of carefully constructed lesson content, mapped against the current requirements of all of the exam boards. Initially four areas of the curriculum were piloted: English, Geography, History and Religious Studies with four further subjects being produced for 2009. These subjects, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, have benefited from feedback from students and parents and GCSEPod have subsequently incorporated new features into their new titles.

The podcasts are designed as flexible resources to meet both the individual child’s needs and those of their parent. They also aim to provide a high-quality range of revision techniques and learning materials forming a platform on which the user can construct their own revision programmes. The podcasts contain ideas for approaches to the statutory knowledge, skills and understanding of a range of subjects delivered in a way that will engage and motivate pupils. These approaches draw on the techniques of active learning and pupil investigations in order to involve pupils in their own learning – an essential feature of a rigorous revision programme. Students are encouraged to navigate around the website and engage with the additional support material; the RSS feeds, the GCSE blogs and the recommended additional website material offered as extension tasks.
