Dartfish ProSuite is an extremely powerful performance analysis tool. It transforms teaching through the clever combination of software and video by being able to break down one long and sometimes complicated movement into smaller more manageable parts for analysis. The pupils and teachers can develop their skills and techniques while teaching many sports and other curricular subjects.

Of the excellent features, the delay option allows the pupils to, for example, throw a javelin and then view their video of themselves thirty seconds later; During high jump lessons, I saw the performance visibly improve with every attempt. The pupils were able to comment on their jump straight away; then fine-tune their next attempt.

A library of good practice can be compiled for each student or as a school portfolio. Videos can be synchronised to play at the same time, in order to compare performance with another pupil or a professional. The videos can be analysed using a step-by-step feature to breakdown the techniques, such as the triple jump, before the pupils attempt it, developing understanding. Also, videos can be 'blended' where one is overlaid on top of another; this could allow the direct comparison of two tennis players serving for example.

To supplement the resource, a selection of video clips is included covering many of the sports required in secondary school and beyond.

There are also many cross-curricular opportunities: dance, drama, science, technology and art, where a moving subject could be slowed down to closely observe the motion, for drawing or analysing.
