Dartfish Classroom is a resource that extends and builds on the success of the Dartfish family of products. The software provides teachers of GCSE and A-level with the ability to analyse the performance of students.

The main development with this classroom version is that now not only the teachers can view the performance of students or have to use a display screen to carry out the task. Students can view their performance within the classroom environment. This effectively means that students can carry out work at their own pace, developing independent analysis and study skills. Students have access to the full range of tools inside the package. The Dartfish package comes with a comprehensive set of ready made videos. Students can therefore become familiar with the way the software works before they spend time developing their own content.

Students and teachers can use the package in a wider context than just for PE because the software is essentially an analysis and presentation tool. Subject areas that require some sort of physical activity spring instantly to mind; dance and drama can be enhanced using the Dartfish product.

Essentially, students using the classroom version can work individually or in partnership, analysing their performance and comparing it to the exemplar performance, providing the correct footage can be obtained. The software is quite complex but is suitable for use at Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 5. Overall, this is a very powerful educational tool. Like anything else it does require teachers to become familiar with it to get the best from the product but the support mechanisms enable the user to do this.
