URL of School logo
If your school has a website with
your logo on it, you can paste its
url in here and the logo will appear
in your school details when Schoolzone
users find your details through our
search engine.
Here's what to do if you don't have
the URL to hand (it's easier than
it looks!):
1. Open up another window in your
web browser (use File menu, choose
New, choose Window).
2. Go to your school website in the
new window.
3. Click on the logo with your right
mouse button.
4. If you are using Netscape browser,
select Copy image location from the
menu which appears.
If you are using Internet Explorer
browser, select Properties from the
menu which appears, then drag through
the entry next to Address (URL) -
it begins http://www...., right click
in the selected area (the bit you
have just dragged through, which now
has a blue background) and choose
Copy.
5. Go back to the Schoolzone data
entry form (your original browser
window) and right-click in the URL
of School logo box. Select Paste,
and the URL you copied at 4 will be
pasted in.
6. That's it: your logo will now
appear in your school details.
Local Authority
Select from the drop down list. If
yours isn't a local authority school,
choose the one in whose area your
school resides - this is only to help
users narrow their search to a particular
geographical area.
School Type
This has a larger list of descriptions
than you may be used to and if you
have looked at your school details
before you started filling in the
form you will have seen the current
entry. Please choose the one which
fits your school best. The search
pages use a simplified form which
correspond to these as follows:

Age Range
This allows users to select schools
simply by entering the age of the
child. Click on the youngest age you
accept, scroll down to the oldest
age, then hold down the SHIFT key
when you click on the oldest age.
All ages in the range should now be
highlighted in the box.
Fax and e-mail numbers
Please fill these in, they are for
Schoolzone's use only, unless you
want them to appear with the other
details in the search, in which case,
click in the Display box - a tick
appears if the details are to appear.
School Website URL
Please copy and paste the URL of your
school website in this box.
Basis for selection
If yours is a non-selective school,
you may like to enter any other criteria
for acceptance of children.
School details
You may cut and paste text into here:
as much as you like, but remember
that if there is too much, users won't
read it! Any web site links you add
must begin with http://www.... and
will be active. You might want to
put in links to Ofsted reports, performance
tables, local uniform suppliers, LEAs...
anything.
