Channel 4 worksheets and NC tagging

Channel 4 Education link new website to National Curriculum

Background

Channel 4 Education broadcasts more than 400 hours of innovative and thought-provoking programmes each year. Aimed at schools and learners of all ages, these are enhanced by a range of online, print, video and digital learning resources.

Objectives

Channel 4 Education, working with the V&A, were developing a website. Called Every Object Tells a Story, it invited people to share stories about objects that meant something to them. Though not aimed specifically at schools, the site was relevant to key aspects of the National Curriculum. Channel 4 Education wanted to promote this association.

Response

Schoolzone advised which areas of the National Curriculum could be related to areas of the website. Lesson plans and activity sheets for Key Stages , and 4 were produced to link in.

Project details

  • Schoolzone found practising teachers from our bank of ,500 consultants who specialised in the subjects on the website.
  • We briefed teachers on the aims and objectives of the website and the need for related lesson plans and activity sheets.
  • Working closely with us, the teachers then drafted up the resources.
  • Throughout the project we provided an editorial role, making sure that the quality, tone and style of the worksheets matched Channel 4 and V&A style guides.
  • We then presented the lesson plans and activity sheets to Channel 4 Education in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF).

Project highlights

The website was launched with the full range of worksheets, within a timescale of just four weeks.
