Managed Services study
This consisted of a desk-top study into the benefits and weaknesses of the use of managed services for ICT provision in schools. This was followed up by a series of case studies comparing the experiences of teachers and managers and focusing on the effects on productive time.
Integrated Management Systems study
Desk based research was used to uncover the issues surrounding the use of integrated management systems. A research tool in the form of a questionnaire was then devised, in the light of the desk based findings. In addition 10 telephone interviews were conducted based on the same questionnaire. 50 schools were surveyed in total and a written report produced, which focused on the effects on productive time in schools.
Trust Management study
In order to establish the level of implementation of IT security recommendations in schools, schoolzone recruited 30 schools according to a profile provided by the client, devised a survey tool to meet the stated objectives and conducted a series of face to face interviews between security engineers and school network managers and analysed the results to produce a written summary report. Additionally, each participating school was provided with a security status report detailing their compliance with recommended procedures.
