RM Kaleidos VLE tagging
Schoolzone eases publishers into the virtual classroom
Background
RM is the leading provider of ICT software, services and infrastructure to UK schools, colleges and universities. With Kaleidos VTLE (Virtual Teaching and Learning Environment) they provide a single location where a school can store and manage all of its ICT-based curriculum materials.
Objectives
In order for materials to be used effectively within Kaleidos VTLE, they must be broken down into learning objects and metatagged. RM wanted to make this easier for publishers and to
reduce their reliance on RM’s technical service. In doing so, they would encourage more publishers to make their resources available via Kaleidos VTLE and give a wider choice of resources for customers to use within the system.
Response
Schoolzone formed a partnership with RM, combining educational and technical expertise to find simple solutions that publishers could adopt. We approached publishers with the new services that made it easier for them to publish via Kaleidos VTLE.
Project details
- Schoolzone worked with RM to understand more about Kaleidos and other VLEs and how best to package and metatag content for the product.
- We now offer a number of services to publishers that make it easier for them to make their products available on Kaleidos and other virtual learning environments - from a complete content pack and metatagging service, to in-house training that helps publishers to create their own packs.
Project highlights
As more and more publishers see the benefit of making their products
available via virtual teaching and learning environments, they are increasingly asking for us to help ensure their products work effectively on these systems.
