Review: This is a useful worksheet on a theme of calculating areas of recangles. Pupils are encouraged to find areas of simple rectangles by counting the internal squares inside each of them They are then asked to identify which have equivalent areas and then which are squares. This worksheet is well presented and clearly organised and could be used in most Key Stage Two classrooms. This worksheet is from the Primary Resources website which provides a very wide range of excellent resources, mostly worksheets, for Primary school teachers.

Review: An excellent site full of advice for teachers and parents on how to teach maths to young children. It also teaches how to make play dough. The site has clear navigation and lets teachers look at many different subjects and how best to teach them. The links are functional and of a very high quality. This site will reduce the amount of time teachers take to prepare their lessons. This particular part of the site is dedicated to numbers however there are links to other national curriculum areas.

Review: This a worksheet that reinforces pupils knowledge of 2D shape and their properties. It consolidates pupils knowledge of area and perimeter and also the terms regular and irregular. The work sheet is a series of questions. It is quite challenging in arts and requires familiarity of terms such as perpendicular, asymmetric and congruent. The worksheet is presented clearly and is one of many quality resources available to teachers on this useful website.

Review: This is a simple but excellent worksheet from the Primary Resources website which offers a wealth of super resources free of charge to Primary School Teachers. This worksheet requires pupils to find the areas of the rectangles that are shown. They have to measure the sides themselves as no measurements are shown on the worksheet. When they have calculated the area, there is a table in which pupils are to record their results. A useful resource, one of many from this excellent website.

Review: Maths help resources for 4th to 8th grade pupils that allow pupils to search for the areas they need help with. The resources are divided into different categories including Whole numbers and their basic properties, Decimals, Data and Statistics, Fractions, Geometry, Ratio, Probability, Measurement, and Algebra. Each category is broken down into sub categories and then into descriptions of different areas with an example e.g. whole numbers and rounding. The site could be used for homework help or during revision. An improvement to the site would be a search facility.

Review: The webpage consists of worksheets based on magic squares practising addition skills. The site is not interactive and so students have to copy out the grids before they can start to solve the puzzles. it would be good practice for basic numeracy skills but would benefit from a more interactive style. The ouzzles are quite challenging for KS1 and is probably more suited to KS2. . This page is part of the excellent Primary Resources site which contains a wealth of activities and worksheets on all Primary curriculum areas. It is well worth a visit

However, the mathematical home page on this site gives access to a far greater range of problem solving worksheet (ranging from the curiously tiled “Halloween Problems” to others relating to perimeter and area) that could be of value to any teacher of mathematics. There are also a number of computation worksheets that could be useful
