The site is entirely free to use and non-commercial. Excellent links to a wide range of resources including a 24 hour museum. Would be very well suited to interactive teaching, homework research, and lesson planning. Well worth adding to your favourites.

Review: A very colourful and pupil-friendly site. A good place for KS2 teachers to start. The topics in the curriculum are all here. There are also some interactive activities and presentations. ( Beware these are not all History though) Some of the presentations, Vikings for example, are quite basic but really could save you quite a bit of time. You also need to pick from the good, the bad and the downright ugly in the PDF worksheets! Also quite strangely not all the resources are hyperlinked.

Review: This site has improved with time. Some of the earlier units are a bit limited in the skills they are trying to inculcate. But the PRO actually commissioned a survey to see what teachers and advisors thought of the site and how it could be improved. And it certainly has. Sections of the site are now far more interactive and pupil-friendly. The exhibitions section is an excellent way for pupils to undertake historical enquiry. Some of the pages still tend to be a little too text-heavy and some pupils may find them intimidating. The new Tudor unit is rather good and could be used by pupils with a wide range of abilities. The tour of Tudor Hackney is definitely a move in the right direction. The Focus On units are devised to test history skills and some have rather snazzy interactive quizzes attached. The site is definitely a pot luck affair. Some topics are covered in a way that encompasses the latest thinking in the teaching of History others are rather ‘old-hat’. As far as primary evidence is concerned this site cannot be beaten.
