Pupils can be given the address to do research for homework. In lessons pupils will need a structured path to follow for research as the site is so vast that the pupils could easily get off track. The documentary evidence is also extremely useful for source analysis activities for all the secondary level key stages. The text can also be used in a variety of word processing activities, e.g using the find facility to find key words, which encourages pupils’ literacy skills. This section of Spartacus, Encyclopaedia of British History: 1500-1980, is not just useful for the compulsory national curriculum units on British History but is a wealth of information and evidence on the Black Peoples of America topic.
