 Review: This site boasts that it is a ringside seat to historical events, accounts told by those who witnessed the events. The range of accounts is tremendous from the ancient world, through to the 17th, 18th, 19th centuries. There are also particular foci on WWI, WWII, the Civil War (USA) and the Old West. These would be useful for KS3 topics or Modern World and SHP GCSE History. They give interesting snapshots in time and you can get absorbed in looking at the different stories. Therefore it is probably wisest for teachers to give pupils a structured guide for research, for class and homework. Be aware that, by their very nature, these stories are very texty and teachers may have to differentiate them for some pupils. There is an essential index page, which is ordered chronology to make life a little easier for the researcher. A fascinating site and definitely worth book-marking.
