Review: History. An amazing collection of over 30 sets of Roman maps reproduced on the web. Ideal for illustrating a teaching topic or more specialised research. If you need a map to illustrate any aspect of Roman History this is the site for you. These maps would work especially well on an electronic whiteboard. Some of these maps would also make interesting and colourful wall displays if blown up. If you scroll right down to the bottom of the page you will find a hyperlink to a search engine

Caerleon Challenge

Mainly suitable for:
Well suited for use in UK schools KS2
Review: The Caerleon Challenge is a KS2 resource based on the ´webquest´ idea. Your father is the commanding officer of the Roman Legionary Fortress at Caerleon and he has asked you to look after the family of a British Chieftain who will visit the fortress in a few weeks’ time. You are going to give them a taste of Roman life in the baths. Children can watch video, ´handle´ artifacts, browse around a barrack room, and use lots of other resources to complete their tasks.

Mainly suitable for:

Review: A very colourful and pupil-friendly site. A good place for KS2 teachers to start. The topics in the curriculum are all here. There are also some interactive activities and presentations. ( Beware these are not all History though) Some of the presentations, Vikings for example, are quite basic but really could save you quite a bit of time. You also need to pick from the good, the bad and the downright ugly in the PDF worksheets! Also quite strangely not all the resources are hyperlinked.

Review: Several on-line games that all relate to different historical periods, Romans, Vikings, Tudors, Victorians, 20th century. These are usually flash generated, and therefore will need the right software installed, but they are up to the usual high standard of the BBC, and have back up material related to the curriculum. Can be used on p.c's, on white boards, and links ot other relevant sections in the BBC web site. Useful as a means of assessment or explanation, or as group learning activity.
