Review: This could be a really useful activity. BBC Online make a difficult subject fun with this game that teaches children about datahandling, and in particular, different types of averages. The activity features four trains. Children are given the length of the recent journeys for each of these trains and are then required to calculate the mean median and mode of each of these trains. This is a simple but fun activity that would be of considerable use to maths teachers at Key Stage. This would be reallyuseful for SATs revision

Review: This worksheet asks pupils to calculate the surface area of 2d shapes, and in particuar, cuboids. There are 3d pictures of several cubes and cuboids on this page. The dimensions of the length breadth and width in each case are given. The pupils have to calculate the surface area. Although the worksheet does not cover this, an extension could be for pupils to calculate the volumes of each of the cuboids. It is assumed that pupils are familair with the methods for calculatig surface area since no instructions are given.
