Review: This page has links to five mathematical games, four from India and one from Egypt. They are: Sixteen soldiers, Nine Mens Morris, Pachisi, Alquerque and an unknown game. Each game has a picture taken in the relevant country with a description of how to play the game and something about its history. All of the games have versions that we play in Britain today.Children are challenged to play the games and investigate various things about them. Many of the challenges are open ended so children could tackle them at their own level.The strength of the site is that it gives a different way to introduce an investigation or challenge to children by showing them a game they know but in a different form.
