Review: History. A personal and well constructed web site which has an Irish perspective. There are sites with more images but this is well researched and can be accessed by the majority of KS3 pupils. A very readable and well organised site with a number of images that will be useful to students. There are clear guides throught the site and useful links to other related web sites. The site is both useful for staff and students- the latter needing some structured assistance in making the best of the site. Not too sure what the 1996 US site award was for- but worth a visit all the same.
Mainly suitable for:
Foundation Stage - Preschool, KS3, KS4
Review: A German site but available in English, French and Portuguese. A Photographic exhibition of the Berlin Wall. A lot of the pictures are from 1979 and some appear to be family photos with the Wall in the background! Then the exhibition leaps to 1989 and the fall of the Wall. These images could be used in a GCSE or KS3 study of the Cold War and, undoubtedly, its greatest symbol. The more historic type of photos could be used in a powerpoint presentation, apart from these couple of ideas of limited use.
