Review: This site on the Egyptians is split into six sections: daily life, art, pictures, maps, biographies and research. In the daily life section there are some great activities for KS1 and 2 pupils. These include interactive on-line games. The picture section of course has a vast number of images that can be used on an interactive whiteboard or blown up for classroom displays. Index to these links could prove a little confusing for pupils to access themselves. Definitely one to bookmark.

Review: Site produced by the British museum. Enables pupils to explore for specific exhibits or a tour can be undertaken. The search facility helps pupils find what they are studying. Pupils are asked to enter a country or civilization and/or an aspect of life being studied, e.g. ornament and dress, death etc. Tours are dependent on the on-line exhibitions available. There are exhibitions that would be helpful for Citizenship and Science as well as History. There is a very useful ‘Ask the Expert’ facility where pupils can find out the answers to their questions. The whole site is extremely pupil-friendly. There will soon be the addition of a ‘folders’ facility which will enable pupils build up their own record of favourite items from the site. The teachers and parents section is very useful for informing what can be taught using the site.
