This is an excellent activity that allows the user to create a frequency table then graph pertaining to a simple scenario. The use of tally marks and totals is taught with the user selecting the correct graph that represents the data supplied in a table. A quick activity tht would be excellent for use with an interactive board to whole class. The bar chart is large and clearly presented making this activity ideal for showing on an interactive whiteboard or data projector. The homepage for the Maths section at http://www.primaryresources.co.uk/maths/maths.htm is quite useful with links to a whole range of resources on topics such as basic operations, word problems, use of money, fractions, decimals and percentages, data handling, measures and others. Some of these materials are in pdf format and ready to be printed for referral or use. There are also Maths worksheet generators. I will certainly refer to this web site when planning my Maths lessons. This worksheet is an assessment relating to data handling. It gives information relating to external temperature over the course of a week. Pupils are asked to portray the information given in a graph. They are given the choice of what particular graph would be best, bar chart or line graph. They then have to answer questions based on the data they have been given and the graphs they have drawn. It is designed to reinforce childrens knowledge of timetables. On this worksheet there is a simple timetable of train journeys. There are questions underneath relating to the information contained in the table. The worksheet is clearly presented and well organised. This is a fairly easy worksheet with not to much information given. It might be useful for pupils just beginning to extract information from timetables. Maths   BBC - KS2 Revisewise - Maths - Data - Mode, median, mean   Mainly suitable for: KS2 Review: This site provides a good balance of activites and information pertaining to the data handling concepts of mode, medium and mean. There is a selection of activites from a simple tutorial pertaining to all basic concepts of mode, medium and mean. This is followed by a factsheet that provides different questions pertaining to these concepts, thus, providing a good resource for revision purposes. The test activity is an on-line test of the same concepts which can be used for assessment purposes or a check-up whereas the worksheet can be printed as an additional resource. Each of the activities can be selected in any order. Most activities are for individual use, however, the tutorial can be used with an overhead projector to reinforce the concept of mode, medium and mean in data handling. This site also has activites pertaining to all concepts in mathematics using the same set-up. The sorting criteria are pentagon/not a pentagon and symmetrical/not symmetrical. This could be useful in work on 2D shape or data handling and could lead to discussion about the properties of various 2D shapes. Other Carroll diagrams with different criteria could be constructed. This is a`hand written worksheet which features different types of aliens. They are named and illustrated according to their properties. Pupils are asked to identify the properties of each type of alien and could then go on to draw their own as well as creating a decision tree diagram. An interesting and orignal worksheet. This is a worksheet from the excellent Primary Resources website which offers lots of free resources to Primary teachers and is definitely a tremendous resource. This site offers lots of high quality resources, free of charge to Primary teachers. This is a very simple worksheet that might save teachers bit of time in not having to make their own. It is a Carroll diagram. The two sorting criteria are symmetrical/not symmetrical and has four sides/doesnt have four sides. Pupils could be given a selection of 2D shapes and either asked to write their names in the appropriate part of the Carroll diagram or to draw the shape Maths   Carroll Diagrams 3   Mainly suitable for: KS2 Review: This is a website from the excellent Primary Resources website. This site offers lots of high quality resources, free of charge to Primary teachers. This is a very simple worksheet that might save teachers bit of time in not having to make their own. It is a Carroll diagram. The two sorting criteria are divisible by four/not divisible by four. and divisible by 5/ not divisible by 5. Pupils could be given different numbers and asked to write them in the appropriate part of the Carroll diagram. Could be useful for discussion on factors and multiples.
