Ambleweb addition machine

Mainly suitable for:
Well suited for use in UK schools KS1, KS2
Review: This is an excellent way to practice or test addition skills. The addition machine can be accessed at three levels. Level one can be used to add two one digit numbers. Level two is a mixture of one digit and two digit numbers, never totalling more than thirty six, hile level three adds two two digit numbers that can total over one hundred. The activities could be used on an interactive whiteboard and children could be challenged as a class to find the answers then asked to explain how they arrived at the total. They could also play the activity in pairs or individually on their own computer. They can click the ‘check my answer’ button and have instant feedback. The fact that a score is kept gives them an incentive to better their score on another game.

Review: Callum’s Addition Pyramid is an interactive addition game created by a year 4 pupil at Ambleside Primary school. Add the numbers together in the bottom row to fill in the gaps in the middle row then add the numbers together in the middle row to complete the top row. The game has three levels of difficulty from single digit numbers to two digit numbers. Collect 1000 pyramid points to open the Mummy’s tomb. This is a good game to improve mental addition.
